Reading Hospital and Medical Center appointments

Cynthia Holman, MHA, BSN, RN, Wyomissing, has been appointed Director of Continuum of Care for The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

In this position, Holman is responsible for assuring a model for the Continuum of Care for Chronic Disease Programs is established. She will work in collaboration with the medical staff, Hospital staff as well as the other entities in the system to provide for the seamless transition of patients across the continuum of care. She will also work with all services and entities to develop goals and objectives in providing quality, cost-effective care and services which are aligned with federal, state, and local regulations, in order to deliver safe, effective, and efficient patient care with a seamless transition for patients across the continuum of care.

Beth Purcell

Holman last served as a Service Line Manager with McLaren Northern Health in Michigan, working with the Chief Operating Officer to develop a heart and vascular service line business plan. Prior to that, Holman was the Manager for Chronic Care for Northern Michigan Regional Health System.

Mary Fors

Holman earned her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. She obtained a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minn., and is a member of Upsilon Phi Delta, the International Honor Society for Healthcare Administration.

Tabitha Madzura

Jessica Florkowski, BSN, RN, CWCA, Kempton, Pa., is the new Nurse Manager for The Rehabilitation Center at The Reading Hospital for Post-Acute Rehabilitation.

In this position, Florkowski coordinates clinical and administrative activities on the unit to provide high-quality care. She assures the provision of nursing care services in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and has 24/7 accountability for planning and operations of the unit.

Florkowski has been with the Hospital as a Registered Nurse in post-acute care since 2010. Prior to that, Florkowski served as an RN with the Lehigh Center in Macungie, Pa., the Sanatoga Center in Pottstown, Pa., and Spruce Manor in West Reading.

Florkowski earned her associate degree in nursing from Reading Area Community College in Reading. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Kutztown University, and is currently working toward her master’s degree in nursing at Cedar Crest College in Allentown. She served in the United States Army Reserve as a Medical Specialist from 1994-2002.

Beth Purcell, BS, MHA, JD, has joined The Reading Hospital and Medical Center as Vice President, Business Development and Strategic Planning.

In this new position, Purcell will evaluate and coordinate all plans to position TRHMC as the most progressive and innovative healthcare leader in the community and assess all factors related to the health system’s strategic plan. She will also position the strengths of TRHMC’s existing programs to best serve the community.

Purcell will also develop a strategy to strengthen relations between the independent physician community and the two physician medical groups.

Purcell comes to the Hospital from Chicago, having served in leadership roles in the Advocate Health Care System since 2006, most recently as Vice President, Business Development and Specialty Service Platforms, for Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Ill. There, she had responsibility for strategic planning and business network development, community relations and programming, public relations and marketing, government relations, medical staff and continuing medical education, and operational oversight for cancer, women’s, wellness and ambulatory clinics, skilled nursing and therapies, and the robotic platform.

Purcell also previously held the positions of Director, Business and Consulting Services for Neurosource, and served as healthcare consultant and attorney in the Chicago area. She was a David A Gee Administrative Fellow in Administration at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and worked in the legal counsel and strategic planning department at Sister of Mercy network in St. Louis, Mo. Her business experience also includes positions in marketing and project management with Information Resources, Inc., and Shurfine International, both in the Chicago area.

Purcell holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., and earned her juris doctor and master’s degree in health administration degrees from Saint Louis University School of Law and School of Public Health. She also holds a certificate degree in project management from Harvard University School of Public Health.

Tabitha Madzura, Wyomissing, is the new Nurse Manager for the N3W Patient Care Unit at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

In this position, Madzura coordinates clinical and administrative activities on the unit to provide high-quality care. She assures the provision of nursing care services in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and has 24/7 accountability for planning and operations of the unit.

Madzura last served for two years as Director of the Medical/Surgical Telemetry Department at Maryvale Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. She has also held positions as the Director of Acute Care for the Elderly at JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio, Calif., and Director of Inpatient Services at Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital in Tempe, Ariz.

Madzura earned her associate degree in nursing from Columbia College in Columbia, Mo., and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Ariz. She also holds: an associate degree in business and travel administration from Columbia College; a bachelor’s degree in agriculture; a master’s degree in extension education; and a doctorate in practical arts, vocational, and technical education, all from the University of Missouri - Columbia.

Mary Fors, MBA, Med, SPHR, CCP, CBP, GRP, Wyomissing, has been appointed Director of Organizational Development for The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

In this position, Fors will create and manage Strategic Leadership Development systems and processes, driving business initiatives and outcomes. She will implement a competency model and design and conduct courses that support leadership development, as well as design and lead the organization’s succession planning focus.

Fors most recently served as Manager of Training and Development for Samson Investment Group. Prior to that she served as an Executive Coach/T&D Consultant for Wal-Mart Stores in Bentonville, Ark., and Learning and Development Manager for The Schwan Food Company in Marshall, Minn.

Fors earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D; her master’s degree in education from Temple University in Philadelphia; and her master’s degree in business administration from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo.
