While many across Berks County spent the day after Thanksgiving shopping or watching football, members of the Woman’s Club of Exeter Township spent a few hours adding some holiday decorations to the trolley stop at Perkiomen Avenue and 36th Street.
According to the club’s chair of the conservation committee, Fran Vogt, the trolley stop was adopted by the Woman’s Club, when it was rebuilt following a traffic accident. The club maintains the property throughout the year and painted the structure this spring.
The holiday decorations are a tradition that date back at least a decade. While there was some discussion on Friday about exactly how long the club has been decorating the trolley stop, everyone agreed it is a fun activity.
Club members strung lights, hung swags of greens and decorated urns with festive ribbons and additional greenery, to give motorists along Route 422 a glimpse of the holidays.
