The Eagle Scout patch and medals awarded Jan. 12 to 15-year-old Thomas Nelligan of Douglassville.

For his project, Nelligan swept, cleaned and painted two latrines at French Creek State Park. He also fixed the window screens and added linoleum-flashing to the latrines.

Nelligan began his project in Oct. 2011, but was interrupted by the Halloween weekend snowstorm and later the forest fire that ravaged French Creek State Park last April. Nelligan formally completed his project this past August and passed his Eagle Scout Board of Review in October.

Nelligan is a member of Troop 521, of St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, Douglassville. He has earned 38 merit badges and is an Ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow.
